I’ve become addicted to researching things for the RV and Jeep. Tonight’s obsession is planning the first trip; something both RV and Jeep friendly. I now have my heart set on the Jeep Jamboree in Moab at the end of October. Last year on our road trip to Las Vegas one of our detours brought us within an hour and a half of Moab and I think our Jeep knew that she was so close to the Mecca of 4wd experiences. We will have the kids with is and would be taking some of the easier trails for the time being. I figure we take the easier trails now and it gives us a great excuse to go back and take some of the rougher trails when they’re a bit older. I’m really excited about what the future holds for us. We have always shared a love for travel and adventure and being able to have the opportunity to share this with the kids excites me. I am looking forward to giving my children the chance to learn through experiences rather than just looking at pictures in a book. I’ll be traveling with my wonderful husband, two kids and my Jeep. Can life get any better?
Last weekend my wonderful husband and I made the trip back to Memphis to pick up the Jeep. It is so good to have her home with us. With predicted highs this week in the high 60′s and low 70′s all I can think about is dropping the top and getting a bit of bonding time in with her. As much as we missed out Jeep in the end we were really happy she wasn’t with us for the massive storm that hit this area last week.
We’ve started getting our summer gear for the Jeep back together and remembered that we lost the insert that seperates the windows for our window roll. We have the outer cover so I’m going to go to a local fabric store and see if I can find a large roll of felt and make my own insert, how hard can it be?
With the Jeep being home with us and the weather starting to get nicer this blog is coming out of its winter hibernation.
It’s been over 48 hours now and Jeep Parts 4 Less has not even responded to my request. Fortunately Bestop has better customer service. I phoned them and the missing parts will be here tomorrow. It annoys me that I had to go look up Bestop. It was obvious the box had been opened and re-taped before it was delivered to me. If the box had been opened you’d think they would check to make sure all the parts were included. Needless to say they will not be getting any more of my business.
Edited to add: It has now been one week and I have sent two requests to Jeep Parts 4 Less and they never bothered to contact me. Bestop customer service was fantastic and had the parts to me when promised.
This is my first time owning a Wrangler with full doors. I will say the full doors are more practical given we have two kids in tow but I really miss my half doors. I feel like I’m short on elbow room with the full doors. I miss being able to take the window out and rest my arm down low. With the constant weather changes here I’ve decided to leave the doors on so half doors would be the next best thing. We’re considering buying some half doors but it is pretty low on our list of priorities at the moment. I’ve been looking at the Bestop soft half doors as a cheap alternative. I’d love to hear thoughts from someone that has them. I haven’t really found any helpful reviews.
