In 2005 I managed to get my boyfriend, now husband, hooked on Jeeps. I told him stories about all the good times I had in my old one and all it took was getting him in one for a test drive; he was hooked. It was a typical day in Sydney, blue skies, not too hot and not too cold. We drove over the Harbour bridge to this indoor car lot just a stones throw from the inner city that mostly specialized in exclusive cars. The car salesman knew what he had to do to sell that Jeep. The top was down, he handed us the keys, his toll pass and told us to take it for a long drive and to make sure we went over the bridge.

Sydney bridge taken from a JeepWe headed over the bridge and by the time we made it to the other side we knew this Jeep was going to be ours. The day was absolutely perfect, Shane was behind the wheel and I could tell by the look on his face that he was quickly becoming a Jeep person. I think this was the day I realized he was a keeper. We drove that Jeep around for a couple of hours before we finally took it back and made a deal on it. All of a sudden our summer plans changed and we were planning road trips and looking up trails and Jeep friendly beaches. It was a great summer full of a lot of weekend getaways and many days just driving because we could. Tomorrow I’ll post about our first trip out of Sydney into the Blue Mountains.

The first Jeep my husband and I bought together was a 97 TJ. It was old, it was clunky, it was overpriced but it was ours and we loved it. The only thing we didn’t love were the constant issues that kept putting it in the shop. That Jeep was a great example as to why paying the money for an extended is a necessity; not a luxury. Within the first month my husband was driving home from a Blues Jam around midnight, he pulled off the interstate, turned the corner and came to a grinding halt, it dropped the rear drive shaft. This was the first in a long line of never ending . In honor of our first Jeep together over the next week I’m going to blog about the trips, trails and general good times that Jeep provided us.

I really should have known better than to get excited over the warm weather. My best friend and I have this running joke; Mother Nature has it out for her and due to association she is now ticked off at me. The weather has gone cold. Not only has it gone cold we had snow. I’ve been looking at the forecast and are under a freeze warning tonight. I’ve been watching the weather and for the next week there is going to be a lot of rain and high temps in the 50′s. It figures, the front window is fixed, the soft top has been fixed and as soon as that was done the weather went bad.

I received an email a couple of days ago that is too good not to pass on. JeepForum is currently running a giveaway that is open to anyone who has a premium membership. If you subscribe before April 14th you will only have to pay $19.95; that’s a savings of 33% off the normal price!

I’m just about to upgrade my membership. I’m a member of numerous forums and I’ve always been impressed with how active the Jeep Forum is. There are currently over 1300 entries in their giveaway and that’s only the premium members. I imagine they have a lot of non-paying members like myself.

They have some really cool prizes in their giveaway check them out!
